THE KEY TO SUCCESS WITH MAP²
Education combined with on-the-job training
MAP² California's apprenticeship programs are designed to help individuals learn advanced manufacturing skills as well as earn an associate’s degree in mechatronics.
This dual training system is business-driven and ensures that trainees meet the employers’ demands of today.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Training includes classroom instruction, paid on-the-job training, and rigorous exams that measure skill and competency. At the end of the two year training, students receive:
ASSOCIATES DEGREE
Receive the basic technical and educational knowledge and transferable skills you'll need in order to go on to employment or for further study in your chosen field. Your associates degree is the key to open the doors you want to walk through.
8 NIMS CERTIFICATIONS
Skills in occupations within advanced manufacturing are validated through the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials. The credentials are earned through secondary, post secondary, apprenticeship programs and work-based curricula that include both “hands-on” performance and theory tests.
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR CERTIFICATE
With a Department of Labor Certification in your chosen trade, you will be able to show prospective employers in your field that you have met critical and necessary standards through your hands on training.
REGIONAL TRANINING COLLABORATION
The proposed system will ensure equitable economic prosperity for Orange County residents who are most in need of access to training, and up-skill opportunities to build a thriving life in our region. Believing that cross-functional technology skills are critical to jobs of the future, this unique vision of a comprehensive talent pipeline development strategy through training programs, on-the-job experiences, and job placements, will fundamentally shift workforce development in Orange County.
